I Don't Know How She Does It

The book for October is I Don't Know How She Does It by Allison Pearson. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say. Maybe we can all go see the movie after we read it???

  1. Okay...so like I said on Goodreads. the first 3/4 of this book was hard to read. I felt sad for her family and how unhappy Kate was (trying to have the best of both worlds). I enjoyed the book much more after Jill? died and she began having the realization that it isn't what you accomplish in your life time but how well people loved you and how much you meant to them. I am Sooo glad she realized that before it was too late and her husband had moved on and her children were grown and resented her for it all. My interest is piquede in seeing the movie since Sarah-Jessica Parker is playing Kate's character.

  2. Okay, I hated this book. It took me about 100 pages to get into it and even then I only cared to know if she would have the affair or not. I think I didn't like this book because it made me feel like she was weak. I hate that there are never any books that show how a mom can work outside the home and be a good mom at the same time. I don't understand why it has to be either or. After reading the book I decided I definitely didn't want to waste my time watching the movie. Also I was turned off how she ended up quitting her job but the author left it hanging whether she was going to start her own business or not. I do commend her on not having the affair though.
