It wasn't that bad!

So I happened to like The Tower, The Zoo, and The Tortoise by Julia Stuart. I was a little nervous to actually start reading it because I let Janelle talk to me about it before I started and she wasn't loving it. I think it tainted my expectations. I actually appreciated it though because it made my expectations more realistic so I wasn't disappointed.

The story started good and ended good for me. I could have done without the middle section. There wasn't a point to it really. Although the main characters were Hebe and Balthazar I was more into all the other little love stories throughout the book. I would say that the main theme of this book is that love prevails because everyone ends up happy in the end. My favorite characters were Valerie Jennings and her lover. Their story was the cutest. I was a little disappointed how the other wrapped up the storyline of the dead son. She had me hooked on it the entire book and then the end was like ...and Balthazar cried and he cried a lot and it's all good now. I was kind of like really, that's it.

I would give this book 2.5 out of 5. It just took a while to get to the point.

  1. I actually agree with you. She should of sticked to a few relationships and not so many. I think its funny how you said you didn't like the middle. PS Thats means you only liked about 50 pages of it. The middle is whats suppose to be the best. She just used too many words and I thought I was reading a history book not a fiction book. I think it had no point. Love prevails is a good point but she could of had a better story with that point. A gauge a book on if I would tell others to read it and I would not tell others to read this one.

  2. I want to read the Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. I am actually scared to pick a book cause I don't want it to suck. Then, I will feel bad for picking it!

  3. Didn't like the book enough to finish it. It was a little predictable and boring. If I wanted a married couple arguing about weird crap, I'd push the play button on my life. Ba aha aha! No really.

I thought the characters were cute though. I mean, who collects rain anyway.
